Do you think your pet has what it takes to step up and help in an emergency? Most likely, I say  YES, my dogs will do what is needed to help our pack.

Family comes first even in the animal kingdom. I have gathered a few heartwarming stories that prove, animals are intelligent and can and will help when we can’t.

Joanne was watching her daughters potbelly pig Lulu when she fell with a heart attack.   Joanne called out, but no one could hear her cries. Lulu sprang into action. She ran out of the house and into the street where she sat down in the street and tried to get attention and help. Lulu would get someone to look at her and run back to the house. No one would follow!  Finally, someone followed Lulu to the door, called the ambulance and Joanne was rushed to the hospital! Pigs are smart!

Marcos, Florida, a dog had fallen over the edge of a concrete wall down into the water far enough that it had no chance of getting back up by itself. The dog was exhausted from being in the cold water for hours, and most likely suffering from hypothermia when a pod of dolphins came to the rescue. The dolphins began screaming and flailing in the water trying to get someones attention. A nearby homeowner noticed the dolphins nearly beaching themselves, saw the dog and rescued hi. It is believed that the doberman had been in the water an excess of 15 hours!

Rebecca was numb and unable to move when Salina her Jack Russel Terrier dove in, wedged herself under Rebecca’s armpit and floated her to the surface, and all the way from the deep end to the stairs.  Salina then pulled Rebecca’s shirt and her owner to safety.  A young mother and her son were coming home from the local playground when they were approached by a man waving a knife.   At this moment, a pit bull charged the man who in turn fled, possibly saving both of their lives. The mother and son never saw the pit bull again.

Pit bulls are unjustly feared by humans. They are a kind and loving breed used for human greed and blood lust.   Left to be like any other dog they are just that!

Rob was swimming of the coast of New Zealand when a pod of dolphins began to surround them, herding them together. Rob tried to break away and was forced back into the circle.  He then saw a huge shark circling the dolphins in quest of the humans.  The dolphins continued to encircle the trio for 45 minutes, until the shark had left!  The dolphins then escorted Rob and his daughters safely back to shore.

While doing his daily farm work, Farmer Noel Osborne was accidentally knocked into a pile of manure, shattering his hip.  Noel could not move and no one could here his cries for help. For five days, his goat Mandy huddled by his side keeping him warm, even throughout stormy, cold nights. Perhaps more remarkably, Mandy allowed Osborne to milk her for sustenance.

Oreo 191x300 Amazing Animal Heroes

Dianne Busscher was awakened at 4:45 am by the scary screeches of her black-and white cat, Oreo.  After following Oreo to the garage Dianne found flames and smoke were engulfing the family station wagon. The fire destroyed the garage and a bedroom.  None of the family was harmed thanks to the cat’s cries.  As an interesting side note, none of the family had been too fond of the cat before this incident; however, Jesse Busscher claimed “We love it now. This thing is getting some tuna tonight!”
